Girls Junior Varsity Softball, Girls Varsity Softball · Chaperon ready to lead Gladiators on the Diamond!

The Fowlerville High School Athletic Department is delighted to announce the hiring of Lorrie Chaperon as the next Head Varsity Softball Coach. Chaperon takes over for Matt Copeland who stepped down from his role as Head Coach on August 1st, 2017. “I’d like to thank Coach Copeland. He gave our program stability and structure when it was needed the most,” said Brian Osborn, FHS Athletic Director.

ChaperonCoach Chaperon comes with an impressive history of playing and coaching the game of Softball. She has coached at many different levels including time with the Livingston Breeze, Howell High School, collegiately at Lake Superior State and most recently on our Gladiator staff. Chaperon has a gift for developing talent and building positive relationships. She will work with all levels (K-12) to develop a true program and has the ability to win league championships and put together long runs in the MHSAA State Tournament at the varsity level. Most importantly, Coach Chaperon has a passion for teaching the game of life and knows how to do so through the game of softball.

Coach Chaperon is a familiar face within the Fowlerville Athletic Department; she has given back to the student-athletes as a basketball coach and most recently JV volleyball and JV softball. Ms. Chaperon also holds a position within our FHS Math department and is well respected by her colleagues.

An alum of Howell High School, Coach Chaperon (2006 Livingston County Player of the Year) was a multi-sport athlete prior to her collegiate softball career that finished at Lake Superior State University. As a senior at Lake State in 2009-10, she batted a team-leading .326 with 47 hits, including 14 extra-base hits while earning All GLIAC Honorable Mention!

Osborn commented, “Coach Chaperon will be ready for the challenge. We have a good group of girls returning and I expect her to bring a level of intensity to our program that will make Fowlerville a contender this spring and in the future. Her ability to develop players has been visible since the day she began working with our program and her passion for the game along with our athletes stood out in the interview process. Lorrie works very well with our student-athletes and we are blessed to have her on our staff!”
