The Fowlerville varsity volleyball team traveled to St. Johns last weekend to compete in their invite. The girls went 3-0 in pool play beating Lansing Waverly 25-16, 25-17, Jackson Lumni Christi 25-17, 25-13 and Grand Ledge 25-15, 25-19. This gave them one of first place seeds in the Gold bracket. For the quarter finals, the Glads meet Freeland and won 25-23, 25-20 and moved on to the semi-finals and beat a tough Holt team 23-25, 25-23, 15-10. For the finals, the girls meet State ranked DeWitt. The girls lost 25-9, 25-12 and took home a 2nd place trophy to be proud of.
For the day, Miranda Prochnow led the team in setting with 105 assists and also added 20 points, 4 aces, and 67 digs. At the net, Junior Leah Ash led the team in kills with 30 and had 11 blocks. On the left side, Autumn Barbour had 25 kills, 21 points and 4 aces, Jackie Jarvis added 20 kills and Haley Szumlinski had 15 kills. On the defensive end, Michaela Walker led the team at the service line with 36 points, 8 aces, and 51 digs. Grace Wallace had 89 digs, and Abrianna Stevens, had 21 points and 57 digs. Junior Dani Ryan also added 26 points and 40 digs. Overall, the girls had a fantastic day of volleyball. The Glads are busy in league play, starting their second round and will travel to Perry on October 14th.
