Game Recap

Anthony Odoardi, Livingston Daily
FOWLERVILLE — It wasn’t pretty for the Fowlerville football team Friday night.

The Gladiators weren’t shut out against Portland like last year, but the result was similar, a lopsided 42-7 to the CAAC White powerhouse that left Fowlerville at 1-3 for the first time in three years.

It was a case of another poor quarter, something that has haunted Fowlerville this season. On Friday night, Portland hung 21 on the Glads in the first. Against Haslett, the Glads surrendered 21 third-quarter points and they let up 26 in the opening 12 minutes against Ionia.

It was another hole too deep to climb out of, especially against a team the caliber of Portland, which entered Friday night’s tilt having just one regular-season loss over the past three seasons.

Fowlerville sacrificed 43 points to Haslett in Week 1 and 50 to Ionia in Week 3, and is now yielding 35.5 per game.

It was 42-0 before Fowlerville finally got on the board with 5:45 left in the game on a touchdown run by quarterback Geoff Knaggs. Knaggs was 15-for-23 passing for 112 yards. Andrew McFadden caught eight passes for 73 yards.

Trevor Brock had 13 tackles and Tom Salois seven to lead Fowlerville’s defense.
